Will going to HR cause me to lose my job?

Hi everyone,

I work for a large financial company and I've been debating whether it's worth going to HR about what's been happening in my department but worried about my job.

Over the past while, I've experienced what I believe was racial discrimination, and it affected my health enough that I had to take time away from work. I've also seen management discuss an employee's autism with people who weren't in management while explaining why that person wasn't being promoted. On top of that, I found out a coworker was being let go five days before it was officially announced because management had already told someone on the team who wasn't part of leadership. The list goes on....The overall culture has been incredibly toxic, and honestly the worst workplace I've experienced.

I do have evidence to support some of these concerns, but I'm struggling with whether it's worth reporting them to HR or if I should just move on and focus on finding a new job.

Part of what's holding me back is the fear of retaliation. I keep wondering who knows who in HR and whether speaking up would end up making things worse. If i go to HR could they fire me over this?

Many thanks!!
