Lip paresthesia following mucocele procedure 2 years ago
Hi, I had a mucocele surgically removed inside my lower lip about 2 years ago. Since the procedure, I've had lingering paresthesia at my lower left lip. I am wondering if others have experienced this, and the possibility of this going away over time.
Some more background: in January this year, I had a follow up with my oral surgeon who said that "objectively" it's healed properly, no sign of scar tissue and he did a couple "tap" tests under each side of my lip, to check for nerve sensation. The paresthesia doesn't impact my speech or chewing BUT I feel it, it's persistently there like a mild numb sensation that's always there.
I've pretty much accepted the prognosis I've heard from most people on this - that, after 2 years this situation is likely permanent and this may just be a battle scar that I'll have to live with.
But, I suppose I just hold out hope that this may in fact correct itself over time and would appreciate any further professional opinions on this.
