Corporate student trial

Hey everyone,

So I've been bombarded by Preply's corporate student program, I never agreed to it as it's not what I want per se.

However, today someone booked a trial with me as a corporate student.

Curious if anyone has had this before? Does it even really matter? Should I just treat it like a normal student?

My main worry is, they will want help with a lot of things that I don't really do. I'll make this clear in the trial anyway but it's still a bit odd.

Interested to hear people's thoughts and experiences with these types of students

Professionalism

Hi everyone,

One thing that's crossed my mind reading things on here is a lack of professionalism.

As tutors on Preply, we don't have colleagues we normally would. I get sometimes it's nice to vent. Every single job has it.

However, can some of you be conscious that potential students do read these threads. And if you're constantly talking about them and even naming them, you're costing tutors future students. Also, there's no need to complain about half the things that are on here. And this constant need to block students over the smallest things, learn how to have difficult conversations correctly to avoid bad reviews.

I could write a novel on this, however, we are adults and professionals (in theory) so please think before you start talking about students on here.

Booking & Airbnb alternatives

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip with my family to Malaga in early 2027, I am curious if anyone know any good websites to book a holiday home outside of the obvious of booking/airbnb? We prefer to give our money to a local company if possible. We are 6 adults and 2 kids so we need a big space and a kitchen of course.

(If your answer is go somewhere else or whatever, please don't respond, not to be rude but this is the easiest destianation for us to reach and it's what we want :)

Am I a dick?- Accept draw or not

I had a game today and it was very close.

At the end we both managed to promote to a Queen. They were faster. However they pre-moved and "misclicked" so I was able to take their queen after promoting..

I had like 3 1/2 minutes, they around 30 seconds.

They then requested a draw and messaged but I said no. Because I still could get a checkmate. Should I have accepted the draw for sportsmanship or it's their own fault etc etc

Thoughts?

(Edit I should include. This was like 750 on blitz, he was around 1150 rapid, I 1050 ISH on rapid.)

Hey, are there any NL tutors that can help me out with some questions.

The Dutch tax authorities are saying that I must pay VAT in each country that my students are based in. Surely this isn't right? I have students from Spain, Poland, Kazakhstan etc etc. Must I go through all the countries and figure out how to pay VAT? Any tips or experience would be appreciated!

Hey has anyone else had issues when trying to enter a lesson?

I've recently got a new laptop and am considering returning it cause every time I try to enter a class, it doesn't work and I need to restart.

I've done all the local fixes and checked the WiFi, that's all good.

Before I return, is anyone else having this issue?
