Vibrating metal sound when hitting higher RPM
Make: Toyota Prius Gen 2 2009, 205k miles
Hello, there is this vibrating metal sound coming from the engine at high RPMs. Its not a consistent tick, like you hear when oil is low or similar, but an inconsistent, vibrating metal sound coming from somewhere in the engine bay. It happens every time I get to a higher rpm.
I put the car into maintenance mode and revved the engine as high as it could go while in park to see if I could hear the issue, but it did not hit a high enough RPM to trigger the metal sound. I took it to a Toyota Dealer today, but they said it would $270 for an inspection, which I decided against since it might literally just be like a loose bolt or something. Thoughts? I might try and post a video of the metallic vibrating sound, but it's hard to post because I can only get it while driving at higher speeds. No error codes. Thanks for the help!
