Is getting the new 2027 LE for 34k OTD worth?

I’m looking for a reliable car I can use long term

My top pick is the prius hybrid, I love the exterior and I can see myself driving this for years

I just want to make sure I’m making the right financial decision with this car..

31k TSRP, but with tax and fees its 34k from where I live

I’m able to do 30% down so that I can pay it off faster, and I’ll be using my credit union with 4.54%APR for 60 months

This will be my first car and first big financial decision, please let me know your thoughts and advice!
Thank you

New to the club

Hello everyone,

Just bought my First Prius and decided for a 2023 PHEV with 15.000km.
When clean, the black looks amazing but there are already a few scratches visible if u look closely. Also it’s gets dirty super quick but I guess that’s just how it is with black cars.

I wrapped the front grille black and blacked out the front emblem as well als black tint on the rear windows.
Black 19x7,5 wheels coming soon to make it all black.

Need Advice - 2014 Prius 2

I have a 2014 Prius 2 with 49,000 miles on it. I keep reading about EGR problems, hybrid battery replacements, etc., for cars this old. My question is, should I hang onto this car as it is now, or sell it while it still has resale value and get a new car? Presently the car runs great. What would you do?

Dealership quoted me $3000 to get my hybrid battery replaced. Should I go through with that?

I have a 2014 Prius C with 140k miles on it. The car itself has been running great for the time I’ve had it, interior is in good condition and the engine has had no problems so far, and it’s had routine maintenance. The exterior has quite a lot of sun damage a rusted hood.

Recently I got the dreaded P080A code, the dealership quoted me a little over $3000 to get it replaced. So I’m wondering what my options are; would it be best to get a new battery or should I trade it in for another car?

I really can’t afford another car at the moment, but I worry that if I get a new battery then the car won’t last much longer after getting it replaced. So what do you think my best course of action would be?

Prius won’t stay started

Recently changed spark plugs and coils, accidentally ripped out the pig tail wires to the map, so I sliced a new pigtail in. Car starts runs for a few moments than says check hybrid system .

Prius won’t stay running

2010 Prius 370k miles.

Changed the spark plugs the coils packs. Cleaned the egr valve. Accidentally ripped out the wires from the pig tail if the MAP. Sliced in used pigtail from junkyard. Car starts engine picks up rpms. Can shift into park for moment. Then dies and says check hybrid system. After seconds start it stays dead. I had to jump my battery because it died while working on the car. My neighbor left the car in on mode while he was checking the codes.

Do you guys think my 12v battery is dead?

Or could I have damaged the egr valve sensor?

My 2007 Toyota Prius depleted the battery in neutral in a car wash

Should I be concerned that my 2007 Toyota Prius depleted the battery in neutral in a car wash? Air conditioning was running, and it happened really fast. Any advice? As the battery was tested on May 1st and supposedly had almost 49% life left in it, According to a hybrid expert.

**Update, it had 4-6 bars this Morning (Before it hit 99-Degrees in Phoenix, AZ) and it went thru the Car Wash just fine!**

2024 Prius Prime XSE Premium hit by city bus ; total loss?

https://reddit.com/link/1vsl3jt/video/gagjynnhsbkh1/player

My pripri was involved in an accident with a city bus.

The bus hit the passenger side of the car. From what I can see:

  • Both passenger-side doors are damaged
  • Front passenger window is shattered
  • There’s significant damage around the rear door/quarter area
  • The rear passenger-side wheel looks bent/out of alignment, so I’m worried there may be suspension or structural damage

The car is currently being assessed by insurance, but I’m curious if anyone here has had similar damage to a Gen 5 Prius/Prius Prime.

I know nobody can tell for certain from photos , I guess I am mainly looking for experiences from people who’ve had similar side-impact damage and what the eventual repair estimate/write-off decision was.

2014 EGR replacement cost

Hey all! I drive a 2014 Prius 4 with around 149,200 miles on the odometer. It’s about time i get the EGR replaced.

Yes i know i can do it myself but id rather not, im disabled, i dont have any tools already, i dont have time, and frankly, i dont want to fuck it up.

I’m located in North texas. My preferred dealer quoted me $1550 parts and labor for the replacement ($1060 ish if i just want to clean it). I called a different mechanic in the area and they quoted me $1450.

I’m just curious if any other Gen 3 drivers have an idea of what’s reasonable now-a-days for an EGR replacement and if you’re in NTX, if you’d have any recommendations for mechanics who are reputable.

At the end of the day, i love this car down, i’m doing the service regardless and if everywhere is basically ballpark the same price, i’m likely just going to go to my dealer as they always do a really good job on this car.

Thanks in advance!

How important is the AGM battery (12v) in a Prius?

After driving a second-hand Prius around for seven entire years I just realized that it's supposed to have an AGM auxiliary battery. Obviously it's not the sort thing you can get on the fly so it's not that strange that the previous owner must have replaced the original with a cheap standard car 12volt. It doesn't have a gas outlet hole which is apparently required for a battery that is in the cabin.

Anyway, zero real problems running the cheap battery for seven entire years!

Until now though, but it's just old and worn out. Should I shell out for a more expensive AGM of the type specified? What do you guys think?

Prius model is 2009 (3rd Gen) standard.

2012 toyota prius engine runs rough when car is cold, P0301 code

Like the subject says, I've only driven it once since the issue appeared, but after 3-5 minutes of driving it drove just fine. After parking and letting the car sit for an hour or so(it's warm and humid outside), the issue re-appeared briefly, then the car ran fine, this time it threw a check engine light though.

After letting the car sit in the garage for a few days I tried starting it again and just letting it idle in the garage, and the engine is running rough, didn't give it time to warm up.

I ran the codes and it came back with a P0301.

Let me know what my next step should be, is this something I could fix and/or diagnose myself? One of the videos in the common issues suggests unplugging the EGR and seeing if the issue goes away, should I try that here? to determine if it's a clogged EGR?

What would you pick, 2014 prius with solar package and 170k miles or 2014 prius 3 with 150k miles? Both very well serviced.
