Received Legion i5 Pro with hardware memory corruption. What's the best way to get a total replacement?
Hey everyone,
I recently bought a brand new Lenovo Legion 5, and right out of the box, I’ve been getting random Blue Screens of Death .
To figure out what was going on, I ran an OCCT memory stress test. The laptop ended up crashing even when running cool. I analyzed the minidump files using WinDbg, and it's throwing different memory corruption errors:
- 0x0000013a (
KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION) - 0x0000001a (
MEMORY_MANAGEMENTviant!MiDecommitPrivatePageTail) - 0x000000c2 (
BAD_POOL_CALLERviant!MiFreeProtoPool)
Because these errors are happening across both high-stress and completely cool states, it's a textbook hardware-level failure with the physical RAM modules or the memory controller. and it's not a thermal issue.
Since this is a brand new machine, I have absolutely no intention of opening it up to swap parts or sending it to a depot to get refurbished components on a laptop I just paid full price for.
Has anyone dealt with Lenovo customer service recently? What is the fastest way to ensure they will change my laptop with a brand new replacement unit rather than trying to force me into a repair repair cycle?
Appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!
