Amazon says my $1300 camera order was “delivered” but only 1/6 items were in the box. Now they want a police report I can’t obtain.

Need advice regarding a high-value Amazon order / missing items situation because I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.

I placed a ~$1,300 CAD Amazon order on May 8 for camera gear:

  • Tamron 17-70mm lens
  • SmallRig tripod
  • SmallRig cage kit
  • K&F batteries/charger
  • K&F ND filter
  • K&F camera sling bag

The delivery process was weird from the start. On May 11, Intelcom (courrier) marked the package as “delivery attempted,” but no attempt actually happened as I was home the entire day and even received another order from Amazon (not related to this one). I contacted Intelcom on May 11 and May 12 and they told me the delivery attempts appeared false/invalid and that they would make an internal complaint against the driver. There was also an invalid delivery photo uploaded.

Then on May 13 I finally received a package. But when me and my partner picked it up, we were immediately confused because the box was EXTREMELY light and small for 6 camera items + a lens + tripod.

I opened it and the ONLY thing inside was the K&F camera sling bag.

At first I assumed maybe the rest would arrive later that day in another shipment, but when I checked Amazon, it said ALL items had been delivered in that single package.

The shipping label also showed a weight of ~4.66 kg, which makes the whole thing even weirder because the box I received physically does match that.

I documented everything:

  • photos of the box
  • photos of the contents
  • shipping label
  • screenshots
  • emails
  • Intelcom calls
  • etc.

Amazon then requested a police report. I went to my local police and filed one. But now the issue is:
my local police says they only give me the report number, and Amazon insists they need an actual document/photo/PDF upload of the report.

To make things even more frustrating, one Amazon agent refunded the ONLY item I actually received (the K&F bag) even though I repeatedly clarified that THIS was the item that arrived successfully.

I’ve been transferred between agents/supervisors constantly and keep getting conflicting information.

Questions:

  • Has anyone gone through something similar with Amazon?
  • Did Amazon eventually refund you?
  • What kind of police document did they accept?
  • Has anyone dealt with SPVM specifically refusing to provide a copy?
  • If this ultimately goes nowhere, should I escalate BBB first or go directly through Amex for a chargeback?

Any advice would seriously help because this has been insanely stressful.
