Should I get a tonsillectomy?
Hello everyone! I’ve been weighing my options on if I should get a tonsillectomy or not, and wanted to get the input of those who have gone through it.
I (25M) have dealt with gross tonsil stones all my life, and a few cases of strep when I was a kid. I’ve been in a relationship for about 4 years and over the past year and a half, my partner has repeatable told me that my breath smells bad. I’m very hygienic, and have tried all the methods to remove the tonsil stones, but no matter how many I get, my breath still smells bad to her.
That is what led me to contacting an ENT. In my appointment the doctor said it was an option for me but since the recovery process was so bad, that he honestly recommends I live with it if I can, but that the decision is fully mine.
I don’t have any current issues with frequent infections (at least none that I’m aware of), just the stones. Has anyone just gotten them removed for the stones alone before? Was it worth it? Any help would be appreciated.
