Heavy spoilers but towards the end of the movie bear attempts suicide, but wants to retract his action. The only reason why he actually succumbs to the pills is because freaky Nikki makes the wish that also prevents bear from purging.

Even after everything bear wasn’t going to do the right thing to save her, and she saved herself ( even if unintentionally )
