Help, how to find lost street cat in apartment complex?
Hi, my office has a street cat that was bullied by others, so I brought him home after taking him to the vet to be treated. It was Friday night when I brought him, and we spend the weekend together.
He seems to want to get out, meowing at the door and window but I don't want to let him out yet because he isn't vaccinated. He is an adult unspayed cat, around 4-5 years old.
Usually at the office he only came at night for food, then left to wander somewhere. Sometimes he's there and evening or noon.
I left him with food, water and clean litter on Monday to go to work and he escaped by my bathroom window (the lock was broken).
I've shut my bathroom window, and since it was pretty high and there was no step at all, I didn't realize it was a possible escape route.
I live in an apartment, Monday night I went home at 20:00-21:00 and saw a similar looking cat near the front, but I thought it was just a coincidence. Wne to my apartment with no cat, panicked and run down to find him.
At first I called him and looked under the car near where I saw him, but there was no sign of him. So I walked around my apartment 3-4 times calling him and looking around, but I can't find him.
Then I searched my apartment stairs and floors, but no luck. So I put a food bowl with dry food and his favorite treats on top near the entrance, and asked the security for help.
I have asked the security, the cleaning staff, pest control (cat found in apartment complex are held by pest control for 3 days), and one group chat for my apartment tower, and another for pet lovers in apartment.
I'm scared I might have make things worst by making him panic at my voice.
Please, is there anything else I can do? He's a smart cat, and when I check on the food bowl at morning, the treats were gone and some of the food were eaten.
I'm planning to went home early, sleep until 3 AM and resume my search early in the morning. My plan is to just hang out near where I saw him, hopefully he knows where to come back. I've also alerted pest control.
He doesn't have a collar yet.
