Is laundry service usually this expensive here?

First day in shanghai, east Asian who doesn't speak Chinese.

I'm a long term nomad and needed to do my laundry, found this place close to my hotel in the city centre

Xiangwang Laundry (Hankou Road Branch)

¥110/People·Laundry

Hankou Road No.577 (Duiguoshi Starbucks Coffee)

I only gave a small bag of clothes, maybe no more than 4kg, and it came to around 450 CNY! This is the most expensive laundry service I've used outside of Europe in 4 years of nomading so far. Actually, most places I used in Europe cost less too.

The place looked legit and had prices per each item, so it was the itemised pricing that made it so expensive. Is this system and pricing common in central shanghai?

EDIT: I went back to question it with a Chinese friend, and they confirmed they don't dry clean, it's just how the pricing works. Went to another laundry place nearby to get a quote and it was even more expensive! Yes, even with my Chinese friend there. To be fair, all the itemised pricing in both places were clearly shown in menu style, I just never initially counted every bit of clothing, being used to pricing per kg like in most normal countries lol

Where have you been that had the fewest people from the US?

I have nothing against you guys, but there are enough of you I encounter on Reddit, I swear over half the people on this sub are from the US! Seeing as most stuff I read on here is through a 'US lense' , I would like to avoid that in real life in the next place I go
