Hi everyone, my daughters are in horse lessons as well as my wife and have been for the last 1-2 years - we have the space and barn for a horse and are starting to look for one. I thought we could get one for 5-10K that was kid "safe" temperament wise but I'm being told that's low and to expect around 20K instead. Thoughts on this? I'm uneducated on horse pricing.

Bonus points - what should I expect in monthly recurring costs?

Edit: I should have been more specific, we will be boarding it at the stables and we will be getting a second horse before they move to our place
