ThePriceBasket - A price comparison website

Hey Guys!👋

I recently launched a side project called "The Price Basket", a community driven price comparison website and wanted to genuinely get your feedback, ideas, criticism, and suggestions from the community.

This idea came from a frustration that I am not able remember which store had the cheapest price!!😅

So the idea is, users can:

  • Compare prices across different stores (e.g.: grocery, mobile).
  • Submit prices manually or vote/dispute on existing prices.
  • Upload invoices/receipts for supported stores.
  • Pull publicly available online prices from supported stores/websites

The long-term goal is simply to build a transparent community-powered pricing database.

A few things I’d genuinely love feedback on:

  1. Does this concept actually solve a real problem for you?
  2. What features would make you actively use something like this?
  3. Would you trust community-submitted prices?
  4. What would stop this from becoming useful long-term?
  5. Any UX/UI suggestions or missing features?

I'm actively making changes and I’m continuously improving. Future updates to this site includes:

  • PWA (a progressive web app) - not very much into building mobile apps at this stage
  • Improving mobile responsiveness for better UI/UX
  • Longer price history charts
  • Price alerts as notifications, SMS or email

Would really appreciate a feedback or two — even harsh criticism is welcome 🙏
