I have always wanted to visit Syria. I’m thinking of doing a 6-week intensive Arabic course in Damascus this summer, any thoughts/advice?
Hello!
I’m a 20 year old from Sweden. For as long as I can remember, Damascus has been at the absolute top of my city bucket list. I have a deep respect for Syria's history, culture, and resilient people, and I have always dreamed of experiencing it firsthand.
This upcoming late August, I am starting a full-time university degree in Arabic back home in Sweden with the long-term goal of working in international relations and diplomacy. To get a "head start", I want to spend June and July doing an intensive language immersion program in Damascus.
How is the situation in Damascus right now? How is it with electricity? From looking around Damascus seems to be quite all right and the hazards are mainly in Suwayda region which I do not plan to visit. I would love to hear Syrians opinion on this.
Kind regards:)
