Is this worth saving in my house?

Is this worth saving in my house?

I live in a former student house, it had to have a proper fire alarm system to be up to regs (up to code). Now I live here there's no longer an obligation and I could remove it but it seems a waste. The internal sounder kept going off and the general fault light flashing.

I opened the panel and ran the diagnostic program according to a manual I found online and it's showing zone one open circuit error. No loose or corroded wires visible, so presumably one of the sensors in that loop has failed? I am not a fire alarm professional, so I am a bit reticent to mess with those, although if I could find the one that failed I assume they're not that hard to swap. (In fact seems they're hotswappable?)

Alternatively I could rip it all out and put in smoke alarms but seems crazy to make my house less safe if it's probably not a big repair.

Many thanks for any advice.
