This is the big collection of George’s work published by Fantagraphics in 2024. George was born in the States but has lived in Vancouver since the 70s. Attached are pages from Truckin’, Mu: The Land That Never Was, and Fog City Comics.
A friend is helping Katherine Collins clean out her apartment and they found a case of these. Front and back covers and some interior pages shown here. Unlike the first issue, this one is printed on a thicker newsprint stock. No page count, but it’s thicker and a little smaller than the first issue. Copies are new, but there’s a bit of warping on the lower part of some copies, as they were stored in the box standing up.
If anybody is interested in a copy of this, feel free to message me. All proceeds will go to Katherine. I believe the Beguiling will also have some copies for sale after TCAF.
This came out in 1970. It’s an 8.5 x 11” squarebound magazine “arranged and printed by Arn Saba and Gordon Fidler” and published in conjunction with Vancouver’s Talonbooks. (They call it an “Oh-So-Very Socio-Psychedelic publication”) Mixture of comics, poetry, illustrations, prose and photography. There’s at least one more issue of this. Front cover and some interior pages posted here.
Hope it’s ok to announce this here. We soft launched the CLLDF’s rebranding at Calgary Expo over the weekend. Still tweaking the logo, too. More information to come.
