As title above, it was after long consideration, I decided to pay utilities for don't want causing another drama with that person who caring the house where I stay his room.

Few months ago, it's my first time to find a room near my office. I found a lower price, but poor environment when I first saw it, the house gate is never close, as the tenant car parking inside, living room and kitchen was very messy, then the room I visited was very dusty. I was ok with it because I just thinking that I only handle my own room.

That person, rushed me to give him answer and deposit if I'm ok with it. He will hand me the key on the spots once I transfered 2 month deposit to him. The agreement he said he never give because he just want to stay as flexible person, which doesn't have to do that standard way where agent will give agreement form.

He prefer to get tenant who can stay longer here, then need early 2 month notify him when I have to stop staying here. The utilities is shared, he said every half month will find the cleaner, I'm fine with it.

I request because I'm first time and I wanted it, as proof. He's fine with it.

And this is start where I made mistakes, I transfered to him. He handed key to me, after that I just asked him to give me agreement. As I also send few msg as reminder, took 5 days around to get deposit from him, I also sent my IC with crossed on corner to him. As he requested. I also failed to notice the agreement he didn't put his ic number on it

After stay there the long time, there's a lot of issue with the house, especially with that person.

First:

That person, who admitted he's not the landlord but in the agreement he stated he is the landlord. He didn't state any further what he is in this house. Because the electric bill is by sharing (which I know as I asked before I paid him deposit), and the guy said he's unable to get bill from house owner because he didn't get responded from them.

I have no choice then did manually, like took photo the electric meter box by months. Turns out the price is around that person asked to pay.

Second:

That person attitude issue, in my experience deal with this guy. I'm often didn't get replied from him, I have to spam a few to get that guy response back. Most of the things I msg him it's about things broken, like the water heater, and the toilet bowl flusher. This took few weeks to get response from him, and took 1 month to get repaired.

For the washing machine often have Error E1, i told him about this but he just told me just avoid it but never to repair it.

After half year, he didn't find cleaner to clean the house, not bothering much to me, but showing me that he didn't promise what he said.

Last:

Things come serious and heat as I decided to stop and I understood not fulfilling the agreement and told I decided to leave until this end of month, that guy not happy with it. He told me should tell him early 2 month then I told him I'm fine staying with 2 months. Then he remind me the agreement I asked. Then we talk face-to-face, he keep brings out agreement I requested then I failed to fulfill it. Then I start to state he failed to give me electric bill receipt as proof, at the same time he stated he's not the landlord but the agreement is, this shows the agreement can be false information too. He start act up, argued with me and not afraid being in court. I left speechless because of the unfair I felt and the dumb mistakes I made.

Later he said this time he choose flexible way with me Abit, putting agreement aside, give him time to find new tenant to replace me. If he found new tenant, he will return to me. He said will try his best to help me, by finding new tenant, so he will posting it internet, but asking which month I should leave, either within same month or 2 month later because if he found new within the month where I stay, I will get the deposit back.

He also told me the result are the same whichever month I chose because the deposit depends on situation whether he found or not. I told him next day will give the answer.

I msg him I will be leaving within that same month because in my thoughts, if I extend my stay and he found new tenant I get 0, but paid on utilities. I told I'll be cleaning my place, check everything will be fine condition, if found broken will notify him. He never read my msg after that. Even though few days later I also told him there's another thing broken again.

I did also search internet and social media and platform about him, because I found his profile. But he just only posted on 1 platform. In my expectations he post anywhere to help me find. It made me feel unfair and hateful with this guy because of dishonest person.

Until the last few days I left, I msg him I need him come in person as I need hand over the key. He decided to read my msg, and request for the video I recorded which about the things broken which I mentioned earlier. At the last day, I handover the key for him, asked for the status but he's not found any yet as I expected. I asked again for the deposit back, he said he had follow the law, but I told him my personal reason, he still insist not to give.

He said he was planning to ask me again for the confirmation as I stay until the end of the month instead of the 2 month later, then he changed my mind. I doubt he's bluffing because my msg status will be seen if he wanted to reply, later he asked me to pay utilities which I stay for last and this month. I told him my salary still haven't get yet and unable to pay him. He said he's having my ic number and ic photo, and asking me he can trust me or not. I told him I will pay once I got the salary.

I discussed with my family and friends about this, some of them told me not to pay because the deposit is with him and unfair treatment. Some told me to pay if u want close case with him, no more drama.

I don't understand about the law to be honest, I'm don't know what happened if I didn't pay him as me told next week will pay. So I want to be clean to myself, I decided to pay. After I sent receipt to him, he's still same as usual, not reading my msg again.

I told my colleague about this, they said I shouldn't pay it because they say i could fight back if he use my ic to threaten me which report him back. They also said the deposit is just backup when someone run away without notifying them, they can use it someone not paying utilities and things broken or someone left early. So to them, my case is just almost like someone left early as I didn't get my deposit back.

It left me full of regret and hatred towards this guy attitude, as I'm feeling powerless against him. I don't know what can I do with this guy, all I can do is just learn a big lesson with the large amount I paid and be more aware for that kind of person.

Based on the title. I'm a tenant who stay until this end of July. Things go not well because I admit I broke the contract at first, but at the same time the contract can be invalid due to misinformation and not fill completely by that fake landlord (no IC number stated), and that's where we start to argue about it.

In the contract, he stated he's the landlord but when we discussed about he said he's not landlord, also it does make sense because he's unable to give me the electric bill for the evidence everytime he sent us the msg how much we have pay (all split bills and it's very expensive). He did explain he requested with the landlord but said the owner never gave, but in the contract not states the home owner. Like who knows he's fraud like he's giving something electric bill by following the bill, all the reason he gave is just the home owner never gave the bill back.

I distrust him because of his attitude and poor maintenance, and how he manage the house. Washing machine never fix, just asking us to avoid the problem, meanwhile the broken things take 1 month to fix it and often not to read my message as i believe he can read thru notification.

Without any further discussion with him, i just wonder is there the chance, i can report him with the information I had? like the home address where i rent the room, bank account and full name?
