NYC Intercontinental Barclay 48th street stay - extra charge at check out
I recently stayed at the NYC Intercontinental Barclays on 48th street from 5/7 to 5/10. The initial price before points or credits was $1,424. I used about 15,000 points and got the price down to $1,166. I then stacked The Edit credit and IHG Credit ($250 each) for $500 off bringing the total price down to around $666 (I know I know). I assumed this price would be the final amount that I paid but when I checked out this past Sunday and checked my card there was an additional charge of $90 as well as $30. The $30 charge was for the overages that the $100 credit did not cover. I am wondering where this other $90 charge came from? I called the hotel and asked for an itemized receipt but alas the receipt is confusing and not straight forward. The person at the hotel kept citing "accommodations" as the reason for the extra $90 but this still does not make sense to me. Can someone help tell me why I had to pay an additional $90 for the stay despite the fact that I thought I had already agreed to a certain price and paid that price when I booked the room? Thanks in advance.
