Ranger or paladin dip on arcane archer?

Assuming you have the stats to multiclass, is a single level dip worth it for either hunters mark or divine favour? Let’s say going to level 12, so an 11/1 split.

Was also considering if after 11 in fighter, going 3 levels for vengeance paladin advantage to nova bosses would be worth it.

What to build with amazing stat roll?

Just rolled the following array:

17, 17, 16, 16, 15, 13

Can only use reprinted 2024 content, and get to choose my own magic items (higher rarity will take longer to acquire though). Can anyone think of any interesting or unique builds that this opens up? Thank you!

Optimising the new Shifting Combatant feat

I really like the new Shifting Combatant feat from DnD beyond drops, so I’m trying to think of a character that could use it most effectively. Here is the text:

Domino Strike. When you hit a creature with a weapon and activate the Push mastery property to push that creature into a space occupied by a Large or smaller creature, you can force the creatures to collide. Each creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier of the score increased by this feat and your Proficiency Bonus) or have the Pronecondition.

Fearless Leap. When you make a Long Jump, moving at least 10 feet immediately before the jump, and land in a space within 5 feet of two or more enemies, attack rolls made against you have Disadvantage until the start of your next turn.

My initial thought was a fighter because they get more feats, but also can use Push mastery on any weapon at L9. From there, I think mobility will be important to be able to manoeuvre enemies into position for domino strike + fearless leap. Having a higher AC also seems like it will combo well with fearless leap. Species I’m thinking either Goliath (can grow large to be more likely to activate fearless leap, cloud can BA misty step), Warforged (AC), or goblin (BA disengage). Then would grab PAM to use Pike for pushing and triggering domino’s strike, then would jump next to them and use halberd for cleaving at advantage.

Would love to hear thoughts on this, or any other fun class/feat combos that would synergise well with it. Thanks!

Feat advice for Genie Paladin 12 / Warlock 2

I have a Gnome Genie Paladin 11 / Warlock 2 and I’m stuck between which feat to take next. Likely going up to level 16, so this will be the last feat choice

Stats: 14, 18, 18, 8, 14, 20

Feats: Tough, Lucky, Alert, Bomber, Shield Master

Magic Items: Dwarven Thrower, Belt of Dwarvenkind, Cube of Force, Shield +2, Helm of Awareness

Main strategy is to cast Bless on round 1 and then stay on the back line near spellcasters to give them my aura while throwing my hammer. On boss enemies, I use Dao’s Crush to restrain them at range. Next level I’m considering:

- Mage Slayer: usually an auto pick on other characters for me, but my gnome has advantage on mental saves and excellent wisdom and charisma saves already. Might be useful for Int saves or breaking concentration though.
- Spellfire Adept: I rarely find myself expending many hit dice, so this feels like an extra resource pool to benefit from. I smite fairly often so can add damage on, and bypassing radiant resistance is always nice (ran into a few times with homebrew monsters)
- ASI DEX or CON: boring but would either bump my AC or health

Any recommendations either from this selection or anything else I’ve missed? Thanks for the help!

Undead Warlock or Hollow Warden Ranger?

Looking to build a tank/debuffer that can reliably apply fear and has decent AC, but can’t decide between these two classes. Thinking of going warforged and using a polearm or sword and board. Any thoughts on which of these is strongest in actual play?

Undead Warlock 6 / Barb 2 or Undead Warlock 7 / Fighter 1

I want to try out the re-released undead warlock, and I’m trying to decide what’s best out of these two.

I like two levels of barb for getting reckless attack (would increase strength first then charisma) on the 2d12 Greataxe attack. Thinking of going Zhentarim tactics for the consistent OA which should proc the 2d12 + frighten effect again. Downside is that it’s a lot more MAD, takes more set up to get rage online too and it loses out on 4th level eldritch smite.

The fighter/warlock i would increase AC more and probably go PAM. Then when they enter my reach I can hit them and potentially stop them moving closer. The dip is for armor and weapon masteries. The one thing I don’t like is that the attack bonus feels low without having reckless attack available.

Looking for some input on what you’d prefer, and if there are any species or feats that would complement it (2024 content only). Also wondering if the frighten is worth building into or too unreliable due to immunity.
