After Five Years with Mirena IUD

I would like to track the journey I've had since Mirena IUD's removal two days ago (August 14, 2026). I've had the Mirena IUD after having the Implanon removed five years ago. Implanon made me bleed constanly, and after being told that Mirena IUD is the best BC with very minimal side effect (including no effect on weight), I opted to have it.

These past few years, my weight slowly crept up, then it became stable, and crept up again. To be honest, I was blaming it on my age, as I am now 38 years old. I was thinking that my metabolism has something to do with it. I have been wondering as I eat less, and I move around with my work, but I don't lose weight.

Until June 2026, I got the alarm that my Mirena IUD has reached it's 5-year mark — Time to be removed. As much as I love not having my period, or just a few spots in a month, I want to see if it messed up with my body. So, I booked with my doctor to have it removed. The removal was very quick, and way less painful than the insertion

After giving birth - 57kg. (Implanon was put in a day after giving birth)
