Finally got up the nerve to dance outside and it was scary lol!
And it was also just freestyle too! I was soooo nervous being nervous to put myself out there in real life where people were walking by to see lol 😂

I don’t have any teachers here that do shuffle or cutting shapes classes and I don’t know any people who shuffle in my city either. I’ve been trying to learn for the last 2.5 years by watching online tutorials and copying other choreo from other dancers just to learn new combos and technique etc. But I have been feeling kind of stuck at the same basic level for so long. I know I can do better and I have the desire to improve so I finally joined an online workshop that one my fav dancers hosts each month.
And I wish I would have done this sooner! Having someone be able to answer questions live and physically show me little nuances or help me troubleshoot things has been an absolute game changer.
Today’s class was a choreo that the teacher put together with all the different elements she has been teaching the past few weeks just to help solidify what we’ve learned.
I didn’t have a lot of time to practice after the class but at least I’ve got the steps down and even though I danced to a different song than what the choreo was intended for, this one worked perfect for me haha!
I still need to get my upper body and arms more involved so I’ll work on that as I continue to practice tomorrow.
Improving freestyle (instead of doing choreo so often) has been fun so far. I have been working on finding my groove and trying to get my arms more involved. I have also been trying to do glides more often but I forgot about them in this clips except a couple times 😆
Sorry for the long video.
My glides still need a lot of practice, but I’ve really been enjoying the classes that I’ve been taking because I’ve been learning a lot. I still need to get my arms more involved as well but I was mostly working on the combos that we learned in the class that I took today that involved a lot of glides.
Excuse my pj’s lol 😆
🎶 The song name is in the video.
I’ve learned a lot from an online course I decided to take and I’m slowly starting to connect the dots. Being able to learn from somebody live has been such a game changer! I need lots of practice still but I’m starting to feel more confident in freestyle which is one of my main goals this year.
The upper body has always been an area of improvement for me and the course that I’ve been taking has really helped me with that. And it’s also really helped me understand the groove of music better. While I still need a lot of work, I feel like I’m finally starting to get it. Hopefully anyways! I’m looking forward to sharing my progress here with this amazing shuffle community!
