It's harder to qualify in Europe then it is to get through the world cup group stage
I don't love this format where 8 third place teams get through the group stage. Where as even if we lost only one of our 8 qualifying matches we would have still been forced to a playoff to qualify for the tournament. It truly is a bunch of bs. No room for error in qualifier but it seems all types of leeway to get through group stages
If any team won 75-80% of their games in any other continent like Italy has that allows them to not only qualify but also that same win percentage would also see them past the world cup group stage. Feels excessively strict in Europe for a tournament that comes only once every 4 years.
