Can I just ask- Why do some Godzilla fans seem to straight up hate Kong?
The title says it all, but I guess I can delve a bit deeper into what I mean by “hate” as it’s kind of a broad term.
For reference, I grew up with both of these monsters. Love both of them. You could call me a Kong fan I suppose, but even that is more of a personal preference and liking of the character compared to a straight up ride or die Kong-or-nothing fan. I like an underdog. And I mean hell, KOTM is my favorite MV movie of all time. But enough with the blabbering I’ll try to get my point across.
For one, I see a lot, and I mean A LOT, of Goji fans seriously underestimate Kong’s strength. The dude is absolutely no slouch of a titan and has been proven to hold his own with Godzilla, even in his evolved form. I know a lot of the reason we never see Kong *really* best Godzilla besides GvK round 2 is because of Wingard’s bias towards Godzilla, which as a massive Godzilla fan I can even admit. But I feel the bones Kong does get thrown show how strong he really is. I feel like most, not saying all, Kong fans acknowledge Goji’s achievements and accept that he is just a stronger monster at the end of the day. But cmon y’all, do we have to trash Kong or undersell him for zero reason? I mean I am not sure the problem with accepting that both have strengths over each other and moving on. But I digress on this point.
And speaking of straight up trashing characters, I see way less Kong fans trashing Godzilla compared to how many Godzilla fans I see ripping Kong. I mean feel free to prove me wrong, but I don’t see the point in it. Now l don’t think anything is wrong with having a preference but some of the Goji fans act like it’s their duty to just trash the Kong side. Like I said, I don’t get it.
You can feel free to call me biased or whatever. This is just what I have noticed is all. Every time I have gone to bat for Kong it just seems like I am arguing with a brick wall. Some of the die hard Godzilla fans seriously underestimate him, and some seem to downright hate him. As a big fan of both monsters I just don’t get it.
