The MT-07 for a first-time rider
Hello hello and I am so sorry in advance if this is a long debated topic.
My wife and I are very interested in riding. I come from a very minimal amount of experience as a teenager on mopeds and scooters, my wife has zero experience on motorcycles.
We hopped over to our local showroom in Alberta and we both sat on some bikes. My wife has been very attracted to the YZF R3, whereas I prefer the naked bike as I am more upright. I gravitated to the MT03 and had read and watched plenty of positive reviews for it, however the salesman was talking me out of it and into an MT-07. I'm 5'9", I was able to flat foot the 03 but tip toe the 7, and the amount of extra controls on the 7 was a bit intimidating.
I've had this question in my head for a while, always the "do I go into a more powerful bike, put it in rain mode and get confident in it for the first while or do I get a tried and true, renowned as a great beginner option in the MT 03"
Anyone who got the 07 as their first ever bike, would you have done it differently? Or for those well versed in riding, do you have any insight?
