More like thank you than goodbye 🥹

Our sweet Watson, almost 16, went to join his rescue brother Sherlock on the 23rd and today 30mins after I could finally pull together a post together, I got a message that his memorial was ready to be picked up. The boys are back together, and as hard as it is, there is relief knowing he’s not suffering anymore. First time in the 25 years my husband and I have been together that the house hasn’t had fur babies and it feels weird!

Rear Harness/Lift for Large Dog

Old man Watson is a lab/hound mix, guesstimated around 15.5yo (have had him since ~2yo) and has always been a bit of a stubborn curmudgeon 😂 He has kidney failure, switched to a kibble that was better for him that he loves and I’ve always made their wet food so overall eats well. Salmon oil, turmeric, and a few natural hip/joint additives.

Right rear leg started failing a year or so ago and progressively getting worse with dragging/knuckling and found these little hiking booties that work great (nails are growing back on that foot). Overall vet felt it was likely arthritic and have tried gabapentin and trazadone to try and calm him at night to help him sleep, but he doesn’t medicate well and won’t take it. We have a lot of stairs in our loft so he has to sleep in the living room with us, but he’s adjusted to that now.

He can still struggle during poops though and we have been trying to find something that could help. There are soooooo many harness options and while he has a body harness/leash, we’re looking for something like the pic that would just help lift the rear/hind legs. Anyone have something like this that’s helped?
