My defence against the green felt getting into locomotives mechanisms

Had this layout for almost 10 years now, however in recent years trains have been on and off the layout for deep cleans because of the horrible green felt that was laid. Convinced my grandad that something needed to be done about it as it would jam up motions of steam locomotives and get into wagons, so cork was laid to raise the track bed and now im laying limestone ballast to create a border around the track where there is no exposed felt.

Lumo's re-classified 222/0 to /6 222 601 on test at Crewe 11/05/26

Being based at Nottingham its nice seeing this unit again after it left for Lumo, also saw 005 in Central Rivers. On a West Midlands Day Ranger and managed to get the 17:07 AWC to Crewe instead of the orginally planned 18:07 and arrived around 10 mins before this beauty arrived at Crewe.
