Is there any notable differences between the Japanese and English versions of the game, in terms of the story, characterization, etc.? I don't mean extra content like the Dark Aeons. I mean moments like Yuna telling Tidus, "Thank you" instead of "I love you" at the end.

And is it true that there was more party banter during battle in the original? I had heard that from somewhere but never got that confirmed.

When I played the game as a kid, it was the original NA version before the remasters, so i never fought Penance or the Dark Aeons.

It was kinda neat? Since hes like one of the few bosses in the end game with a unique design and he's so ridiculously powerful. But with all the extensive prep work expected to fight him, he's not really "difficult" but more so incredibly tedious lol.

Talking about the one you get for winning that one match in Luca during the main story.

I'm replaying the game right now. In previous playthroughs, I've given it to Wakka, though I see comments online saying that Tidus is the best one.

What do y'all think?

Over the years, I've started leaning toward Yuna being the real main character, but I was curious what y'all thought.
