Starting a Food Concept in Dubai – Is a Cloud Kitchen the Best First Step?

Hey everyone,

I recently started working on a new food concept here in Dubai. For now, I’m still preparing everything from home while testing the idea. I’ve had quite a few people try it already, and honestly the feedback has been really good. I’m even starting to get orders.

The problem is that I still haven’t finalized my business license yet, so I’m not accepting orders for now because I don’t want to take any legal risks before doing things properly.

Since the concept seems to be working, I started thinking that the next step could be moving into a cloud kitchen so I can operate legally. The thing is, I honestly don’t know if opening/renting a cloud kitchen is the smartest move financially, especially at the beginning.

I already have all the equipment and setup I need. I basically just need a legal place where I can prepare and sell my products.

For people who have experience in Dubai’s food business:
- Is a cloud kitchen worth it for a small startup?
- Are cloud kitchens very expensive here?
- Is there any cheaper or smarter alternative for someone who already has the equipment and just needs a licensed kitchen space?

Would really appreciate honest advice and experiences from people in the industry. Thanks!

Hi everyone 😊

I’m currently working on a dessert concept in Dubai and I’d really appreciate some feedback from café/restaurant owners here.

The product is a crispy layered crepe (not the usual soft crepes), cut into slices and ready to serve. It’s designed to be:

- easy to handle (no extra equipment or prep needed)

- visually appealing for customers

- sold by slice (so potentially good margin for cafés)

My idea is to supply it as a finished product that cafés can simply plate and sell.

I’m curious:

- Would you consider adding something like this to your menu?

- What would make you say yes (or no)?

- What are the biggest concerns when dealing with a new dessert supplier?

Not trying to sell anything here, just genuinely trying to understand how café owners think before moving forward.

Thanks a lot 🙏
