Bruster's ice cream workers - they don't get tips?

A friend works at Bruster's and so when I visit their occasionally of course I select the higher tip option.

One day I was talking with her and asked her how it works with the tips, how are they added to their paycheck.

She said they don't get the tips.

None of the workers get the them.

100% of tips goes to the owner or company.

I am blown away. Is this normal? I know it's not ethical - Is it legal?

How much of an overhang miscut is acceptable?

We are building out a small baking kitchen for my daughter. We signed off on the following:

This is what was installed:

This tapering of the overhang to the right of the oven and the left of the D/W causes both to look crooked. Here's a pic of the space (D/W opened slightly):

The quartz shop owner is blaming the cabinets for not being square, and the cabinet installer is telling me the counters should be fabricated to follow the cabinets. We can try to shim the appliances to try and hide the taper in the overhang but it will cause them to look crooked relative to the cabinets.

I'm hoping for opinions on whether this kind of variance is typical in the industry. This is in the WNY Area. Cost about $100/sq ft (33 sq feet) installed.
