Foundation Year?

Hi, I’m an American student in 11th grade (year 12 I think) and I’m hoping to enter the University of Manchester in 2027 for astrophysics. I am worried however as it seems more and more likely that I will have to take a foundation year. I kind of either have to fit in all my requirements into my final year of high school (year 13) which would be like 7 university level classes or just take the foundation year at Manchester.

Is there any stigma surrounding the foundation year? I’m worried about feeling out of place or something. Are you considered as being in university as a foundation year student or is it like a grey area? Any advice from current/previous foundation year students or general UK uni students would be greatly appreciated!
