Hello. Tricky one here. Husband born in Coventry, now dual citizen with Australia. UK birth certificate and old UK passport has middle name spelt Stelagis. AU passport and AU citizenship certificate have middle name spelt Stelakis. (Its a greek name so pronunciation is apparently in the middle of the two.) UK passport office won't renew unless the two middle names align.

The only option to gain a UK passport seems to be to change name by Deed Poll in the UK. But he can't do this if not a permanent resident. Also there are new border control rules which mean he can't enter the UK on his AU passport alone.

So there is no way for him to return to his country of birth, not through lack of rights, but because there is no available bureaucratic solution to get out of this mess.

Would anyone have some insight into any options ? Help ! Or are we screaming into the void here.

His wife (me) and children have no problem getting UK passports and none of us were even born there.
