Reflection on Gardening

This is one of the activities I enjoy a lot in Palia, and I recently realized that this activity isn't actually as simple as one might think, especially if you're hoping to make some money with it!

In an earlier post, I shared my current garden layout and my "daily earnings," which came to a little over 17k. With this garden layout, I bring in between 10k and 18k per day IF I log in every day! I should specify that all my crops are starred.

As I keep testing different garden layouts with the garden planner, I've come to realize that it's illusory to believe there's ONE PERFECT GARDEN LAYOUT, given the number of variables this activity involves:

  • Not all crops grow at the same speed
  • All crops stop growing if not watered
  • All crops stop growing if weeds are present on their plot (unless removed before the daily tick)
  • Crop growth is tied to actual play time and doesn't progress while the player is offline
  • Palian time flows differently from real time (1 full Palian day = 1 real hour)
  • The garden's yield isn't necessarily the same as actual economic income. A garden can produce huge harvests, but if your preserve jars or seed makers can't keep up and you're not there to empty/reload them, you'll lose economic yield. So excess production doesn't necessarily mean more income.
  • whether or not you optimize crops compatibilities
  • whether or not you use fertilizers

On top of these many variables and still with the goal of earning some money from this activity, you also have to factor in your play style, meaning the length and number of gaming sessions per week/month. Generally speaking, I'd say that if the goal is to maximize garden income, logging in daily becomes practically essential.

So maybe the real question to ask isn't « what's the best garden layout » but rather:

« what's the optimal layout given my play time, my login frequency, my processing capacity, and my income goals? »

From there, there's no longer the best garden layout just the best layout for a given player profile.

Daily player _ Maximize garden yield

Near-daily player _Minimize interventions and risk of lost growth

Occasional player _Maximize income per session

Very irregular player_Prioritize activities with immediate returns

Let me know what do you think 😄

Dear mamma

In breeding, some animals can acquire the "Maternal" trait. Could someone explain exactly how this trait works?

The wiki states: "Speeds up production if the adult is placed within 3 tiles of a nursery containing babies."

But which 3 tiles are we talking exactly? I don't see any grid/tiles in the ranch....

in my mind, the babies stay in the nursery (Earth enclosure) and, as soon, as they become young adults, they are placed in the enclosure AIR by default...

You can't put babies into one of the other enclosures (Air/Water/Fire) before they are adults, right?

To my beloved Palia’s Fairy Godmothers

A quick note to thank all the players who take the time to help out, patiently answering all these topics that have been raised a thousand times, share precious resources and advice, or simply lend a hand without ever expecting anything in return.

To all those quiet fairy Godmothers who make the community a warmer place, day by day: thank you ❤️

If you’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with any of them, let us know in the comments !

About fishing

I’ve recently discovered a lot about fishing, and strangely enough, I don’t hate the activity as much as I used to... I wouldn't go so far as to say I love it, but ... well it's getting better!

In case it helps anyone:

  • Watch the bobber, not the fish
  • Keep the bobber within the brackets
  • Stop reeling once the fish is out of the water
  • Use the Fisherman's Brew which allows you to increase the size of the fishing reticle (the green safety zone) for a duration of 8 minutes ! Once consumed, you will see a small green-encircled fish icon appears beneath your concentration bar.
  • Eat dishes that boost your results right before your fishing session like Fish Stew, sashimi, sushi, and Trout Dinner
  • Use a chum Bucket
  • Use the hooks Safe Zone Size Booster (expanding the green safe zone in the mini-game to help keeping the fish in place easier) or Safe Zone Speed Booster (improving how fast that safe zone moves).

Some of these items serve the same function, for example, the Safe Zone Size Boosters, which, like the Fisherman's Brew, increase the size of the green safe zone.

However, I’m not sure if having both equipped at the same time stacks the effects. If anyone has the answer to this, thanks in advance (The literature seems to indicate differing opinions.)

Speculations on Palia's Next Major Expansions

I've been thinking about where Palia could go after the current expansions, and there are several regions already mentioned in the lore that could make incredible future areas.

Let me know what do you think and which region you would want to see as the next major Palia expansion

The Underground Empire of Umbraa

Lore connection : Umbraa is an independent underground nation that refused to join the Palian Republic when the First Council was formed, largely because of its strict restrictions on the use of the Flow. It is a technological superpower, known for exporting crystal lamps and being a leader in advanced Flow technology.

Current expansions & in-game clues : The Order maintains rare friendly relations with Umbraa because the nation legally permits the use of magic. The history of the Umbraa War around 40 years ago is also directly connected to the Elderwoods and Royal Highlands expansions. We learn that a bloody conflict erupted in those borderlands after the tragic deaths of an Umbraan prince and a Palian princess who had eloped together.

Village connections: Subira through her position in the Order, is probably our main source of information about Umbraa. Her friendship quests reveal more about the war and the doomed lovers.

Possible biome: A massive network of luminous caves, magical abysses, and underground industrial complexes.

The Province of Akwinduu

Lore connection: Akwinduu is a major province and cultural center of the Palia universe, ruled by a monarchy under the Queen of Akwinduu. It is known for its high society, refined arts, luxurious silks, and ancient artifacts.

Current expansions & in-game clues: Akwinduu is already becoming increasingly tangible through the Royal Highlands update and the introduction of animal husbandry. The Akwinduu Thoroughbred description is particularly interesting : the breed, once considered extinct, reappeared at the same time Humanity returned across the sea to Akwinduu, before eventually being adopted by the royal family. There are also culinary connections. The Akwinduu Chapaa recipe can be obtained through the Lost in the Wind quest north of Bahari.

Village connections : Elouisa claims to have found a boot belonging to the Queen of Akwinduu. Then there's Enzo, the chef who is frequently mentioned but hasn't been encountered, and who supposedly created the famous Akwinduu Chapaa recipe. Delaila also has connections to this lore through the horse and stable mechanics.

Possible biome: Rolling Celtic-style plains inspired by the Scottish or Irish highlands, wild coastlines, and lush, windswept hills. Huge green meadows filled with wildflowers, white chalk cliffs overlooking the ocean, and misty lakes. The architecture could have a refined medieval-fantasy aesthetic: large white-stone estates with slate roofs, luxurious wooden ranches for horses, and prestigious academies dedicated to art and haute couture, all decorated with silk banners.

Bahari City

Lore connection: Bahari City is the capital of Bahari Province, located northeast of Kilima Valley. It's an enormous, technologically advanced metropolis that would contrast dramatically with the peaceful rural life of Kilima. It is home to the social elite, major festivals, and institutions involved in Flow regulation.

Current expansions & in-game clues: From Kilima Valley, players can apparently see the lights of Bahari City's skyline in the distance at night. More recent lore also mentions the city being connected by train to the rural region of Harvest Meadows, creating potential class tensions. And then there are the darker rumors surrounding the "Capital Killer" / "Bahari Ripper", which could connect the city to a future crime-focused storyline.

Village connections: A huge portion of the cast seems to have connections to Bahari City !! Kenli has extended family there, including his sister, the Duchess. Jel constantly references the city when talking about his haute couture inspirations. Eshe has major political connections there, while numerous villagers travel to and from the city for business...

Possible biome : A massive coastal metropolis with industrial docks and dense vertical architecture. A complete visual departure from Kilima with a huge, vertically built port city with a Belle Époque + Flow-powered aesthetic. Think grand paved boulevards, elevated tramways carrying Flow-powered carriages, enormous buildings decorated with gold and stained glass, and thousands of magical lamps illuminating the city at night, crowded urban markets, government and aristocratic districts, railway station ..

The Inyrevn Islands / Nyrevn Archipelago

Lore connection: Inyrevn is a tropical island chain governed by local chiefs. Its inhabitants have unique beliefs and worship the Inyrevn Turtle God, an entity said to be capable of walking on water. The islands are also an important maritime trading region, famous for their weather-resistant teak wood and seafood cuisine. The islanders have an official Roundball team (the local sport in the world of Palia) called the Inyrevn Turtles.

Current expansions & in-game clues: The connection to the Elderwoods is already quite direct. Players can catch the famous Inyrevn Mermaid fish in freshwater rivers. Item descriptions suggest that these creatures migrated from the islands or attracted fishermen from across Bahari. There are also mentions of the Ribbon-Tailed Ray, which migrated from Inyrevn toward the Palian coast.

Village connections: Fishing-focused villagers such as Einar and Hassian could have connections to the islands, while merchants like Zeki would obviously have an interest in rare Inyrevn teak. Subira also mentions Inyrevn when explaining that the strange "space laser" anomalies associated with Humanity's arrival were visible all the way across the distant archipelago.

Possible biome: A colorful tropical paradise made up of several smaller islands connected by pinkish white sandbars and rope bridges. Crystal-clear turquoise water would make the area perfect for underwater wildlife, including the famous giant turtles  and dolphins! The vegetation would be extremely lush like mangrove forests, a canopy of tall palms, teak trees, and exotic fruit trees would break up the direct sunlight. This would create areas of soft, restful shade, eliminating the annoying glare found in Bahari. Coastal villages could feature warm, lightweight architecture ( coastal chic style) raised teak-wood houses, woven structures, thatched roofs, and lively fishing ports filled with open-air seafood markets.

I LOVE THIS BAG !!

I’ll be honest before I got my hands on this thing, I really didn't like the ELDERWOODS, but this bag changed everything !

So now, I make sure to upgrade it to the max level so I can interact with everything without worrying about having the right arrows or bombs!

Even the first level lets you gather plants and woods without using a potion !

Let me introduce the one and only : The bag of illusion !

ELDERWOOD QUESTIONS

1/ Do the debris piles in Elderwood work like the Royal Lands campfires, appearing in pairs at the same map locations?

2/ Is it the same for the sacred flowers needed to get enchantment runestones? Are their locations known?

3/ In your opinion, is it better to buy the runestone directly from Tamala or to gather the flowers and offer them at the shrines?

4/ Do the shrines disappear once you’ve given them a flower?

thanks

Path of the kitsuu

Hello everyone,

I'm currently unlocking the Kitsu path and have collected the building components.

However, where exactly do they appear? I can't see them in my inventory or in my house blueprints.

Thanks

Daily dashboard tasks

Regarding the two daily tasks on the dashboard: is anyone else having trouble validating them ?

getting the little green checkmark in the box?

I have no problem rellolling them I’ve been caught out by that a couple of times but validating them is impossible (I'm a PC player).

If so, did you manage to solve the problem, or did you submit a support ticket?

Thanks

Can I pet that dwag !

I really like this little pet, though I don't know its name in English.

If I wanted to get one myself to join me on my adventures, I suppose the only way is to open my wallet?

CROP LAYOUT

I’m sharing my new garden layout in case it works for anyone else.

I deliberately didn't aim for star-quality crops, since I’ve already passed Farming Level 25.

I also skipped weed protection, as I don't feel it has a significant impact on the crops (do let me know if I'm mistaken). I included every type of crop to ensure I always have what I need on hand. My top priority was water management.

Who secretly dreams ...

Which elements would you choose ?

weird behavior ?

I put out a call in the chat to announce the flower operation... nobody showed up, and that's fine, it happens.

So, I started tending to these lovely plants myself. Just as I had five or six left to treat, someone arrived, quickly gathered up the plants, and literally waited for me to finish the last ones without lifting a finger to help only to snatch them up immediately and leave...

I know there’s no competition in Palia or anything, but still... am I just being too sensitive, or what?
