Being triggered by the word "cult", but only when it's what they don't like or agree with

When I (now POMO) was a teenager, my mother heard me listening to System of Down.
She heard the lyric "angels deserve to die", fired up the dial up to Yahoo!, saw the first article about them that said the band had a 'cult following', freaked out screaming at me that they were a death metal cult and threw my CD in the trash.
Now I'm in my 40s and have been living back with PIMI mom since she retired. She was watching a classic 'so bad it's good' 80s movie she had never heard of.
So she hops on Google, reads an article about it OUT LOUD to me and says, "it says this movie has had a cult following since the 90s when it was released on VHS!"
I was waiting for the outrage, the fear, the remorse over not knowing she had just watched a death metal cult movie.....
"I really liked that movie. I'm gonna try and find more like it" ***saunters away***
