What are the worst airports in Europe to travel with kids?
I’ve just come back from a trip between Heraklion (Crete) and Frankfurt, and I think I may have just experienced two of the worst airports in Europe for traveling with kids.
Heraklion: absolute chaos. People everywhere, endless bathroom lines, and just overall indescribable confusion. And this is only May, I honestly don’t even want to imagine what it’s like in peak summer.
Frankfurt: we were told upon landing that the baby stroller would be delivered at baggage belts, so we had to carry two infants plus backpacks all the way there. That’s where the adventure began: bus ride, waiting, more waiting, then we get dropped off at the far end of the terminal. I must have walked around 2 km inside the terminal (about 20 minutes). I asked if there were any strollers available, nope.
After roughly 45 minutes from landing, we finally reached baggage claim… and then waited another 20 minutes for the strollers to arrive. Oh, and you still have to pay €2 to use a luggage cart.
Pretty terrible experience for an airport that’s supposed to be a major international hub.
