10 month old is going backwards on sleep training

We’re on our last limb here. We’ve been sleep training using the chair method for 5 weeks now and it has only gotten worse. For some background, her schedule is 3.5/3.5/4. Still on two naps a day.

Week 1 was a breeze. We would put her down drowsy and then sit by the crib for 15-20 minutes before leaving the room. By the end of week one, we would still put her down drowsy but we’re able to sit across the room while she fully went to sleep. If she woke up during the night, all we had to do was walk in the room and she’d settle.

Week 2 was like someone flipped a switch. She now wakes up consistently every 1-2 hours and will not settle herself to sleep. She requires that we touch her or hold her to fall back asleep.

It has been like that for the past 5 weeks now. We are begging for sleep at this point and it’s starting to severely take a toll on us emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit: schedule is 3.5/3.5/4
