Should I go short???
TL;DR of this post: I have shoulder-length, probably 3a ish curly hair and I'm considering going for a short. I'm aiming for a more androgynous/masculine look. Would you recommend a pixie, bixie, or something else based on my hair? any advice would be appreciated

I've been thinking about cutting my hair short and I'm getting increasingly nervous/excited about it lol. My hair is currently around shoulder length and naturally curly, probably around 2C/3A. I used to have waist-length hair, which everyone around me absolutely loved, but honestly I hated how much it became part of how people defined me. About a year ago I got fed up and chopped it to chin length. It's grown back to my shoulders since then.
A LOT has changed in my life over the past year, and I feel like I've changed a lot as a person too.
I'm thinking somewhere between a curly bixie or a proper pixie, possibly with shorter sides and more length/volume on top. I don't know yet how far I want to go helpppp.
Part of me really wants to do it because I want to be brave and try something completely different. Another part of me is just shit scared.
But I do want to have something physical that reminds me how much I've changed over the past year. hair means a lot to me and my identity, so i think it is a good step, but i do need help.
Also fair warning, my hair is honestly pretty fried right now. im sorryyy
I've neglected it quite a bit during a really rough period, and it's also had its fair share of chlorine damage, so I'm wondering if cutting it short might actually be a good opportunity to basically start fresh. I have some pictures of my hair, although most of them are unfortunately of the damaged state 💀 I've also included a picture of what my hair looks like wet, since that probably gives a better idea of the actual curl pattern.
I'm flying home on August 29th and I'm thinking of getting it cut on August 30th, so I have about 10 days to decide.
So, purely based on the hair: what would you recommend? And ANY advice for getting a short cut with my hair would be VERY appreciated.
