KYB vs Monroe Shocks

Hey y'all,

A few months ago I bought a 2009 vibe as my first car, and I have been absolutely loving it. The ride however, is very rough due to both the nature of the car and the fact the shocks are barely functional (car has 284k km).

I'm looking into shock options, and I've narrowed it down to KYB shocks (OEM) or Monroe quick struts. I know KYB is generally considered to be better quality, but Monroe quick struts are generally considered to have a softer ride.

Given the nature of being a compact car with an already rough ride at the best of times, and the fact that the region I live in has horrible roads (Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario) I was wondering if Monroe may be a better option for the sake of comfort.

Does anyone have experience with either, or both? I'm finding a lot of conflicting information about the quality/reliability of both makes online so first hand would be preferable! Cheers

Snack day

I have 5 otos in my pea puffer tank (20 long) aiding the shrimp as clean up crew. I feed my puffers blood worms on Thursday (as a snack - high fat) and my otos always go wild for them.

I've seen them bully their way through the shoal of puffers picking at the floating worm ice cube to grab a mouth full to swim away with. Love these little guys

Never saw these guys nomming on eggs

Got a few new plants from petsmart to help fill out an open part in my aquarium. Watched my chud sons chase down all the damselfly nymphs that hitchhiked, but just noticed one of them pecking at one of the plants.

After zooming in, I noticed he was snacking on snail eggs. Just assumed they wouldn't recognize the eggs as food but I guess it makes sense

Fixed VVTI Rattle - Spring Comparison

Just fixed the vvti rattle in my 2009 Pontiac Vibe. Took 3 hours (I'm a complete amateur when it comes to car work) but was overall very easy. I imagine a hobbyist could get it done in less than an hour.

Only special tools needed was an IPR30 5 point torx head for the VVTI gear side plate.

Looking at the original (black) compared to the Macmaster Carr replacement, can definitely see how the original didn't have enough juice to push the pawl after 17 years of compression cycles.

Was the final job in turning my $1500CAD shitbox into a reliable daily! WAHOO!
