What do you consider a "good" DSO ratio in your org?

I am transitioning into a new finance role at a mid-sized manufacturing company, coming from an audit background. One of my first priorities is getting a handle on our cash flow and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO). I know the right number depends on industry and payment terms. For a manufacturer with net 30 customers, what Days Sales Outstanding range are you targeting or seeing in practice for accounts receivable performance? I have read that 45 to 60 days is typical, but I am more interested in what is achievable with a lean finance team and no major accounts receivable automation in place yet.

Would appreciate any benchmarks or lessons learned on improving cash conversion cycles and working capital.

Is cloud accounts receivable software reliable enough for enterprise use?

We are a mid-sized manufacturer evaluating cloud-based AR automation to replace manual processes. Current setup relies on our ERP's basic module plus extensive spreadsheet work for collections and reconciliation.

Key concerns about cloud AR platforms for enterprise deployment:

  • Data security and regulatory compliance
  • System uptime and performance during peak periods
  • ERP integration stability
  • Vendor stability and long-term viability

For organizations that have deployed cloud AR software, how has it performed in production? Any significant outages or data security incidents? Would you trust it for mission-critical receivables processing?

Appreciate any insights.

What cross border b2b payments platform are you using?

We are selling B2B into a few regions outside our home country and cross‑border payments are becoming one of the more annoying parts of the job. Among wire fees, FX spreads, settlement delays and customers wanting to pay in different ways, it is getting harder to keep a clean picture of what we collected and what was lost to costs or friction. Right now we rely on a mix of bank wires and whatever each customer prefers, which makes reconciliation and forecasting messy.
For those of you handling regular cross‑border B2B payments, what platform or setup are you using today and why did you stick with it? I am interested in real‑world tradeoffs you have seen around fees, FX rates, speed, customer experience and how much effort it takes to tie everything back into your accounting and AR without burning a day every month.

What is a hobby you got obsessed with?

I feel like everyone has that one hobby that started as "I will try this for a week" and somehow turned into a full blown obsession 😂 For me it was and now I have much stuff for it and no regrets.

What hobby sucked hard?

is ai accounts receivable automation actually delivering results?

We are a B2B SaaS company and our AR balance now sits in the high six / low seven figures most months.
I'm seeing more tools pitch "AI for accounts receivable" and "AI collections" especially from startups and newer vendors, but I'm skeptical. I'm trying to figure out if anyone here actually has this running in production, not just in a small test.
What I mean is AR software that says it can:
- Rank which customers to chase (e.g., flagging accounts that are "likely to pay in 15 days" vs. "likely to pay in 60+ days" based on historical patterns)
- Draft collection emails that are actually usable (not robotic or generic)
- Predict when overdue invoices are likely to be paid
Rn our setup is pretty standard: invoices from billing/accounting, some basic dunning logic, and spreadsheets plus email for follow-up.
If you've rolled out AI-driven AR automation, did it move anything that actually matters? Like DSO, recovery rates, or the hours per week my team is spending on manual follow-ups instead of higher-value work?
Or did it mostly turn into another dashboard we have to watch and correct?
"We tried it and shut it down after a few months" is just as useful to hear as "this has actually helped." Looking for real experiences, good or bad.

How are you handling B2B accounts receivable automation today?

We're a mid-sized company currently managing AR manually through our ERP's basic module plus spreadsheets. Collections and reconciliation are eating up too much team time and DSO is trending in the wrong direction.
Looking to understand how other B2B organizations are handling AR automation today. Specifically interested in:
Solutions and platforms being used
Whether AI features deliver tangible value
Implementation lessons learned
Measurable outcomes around DSO and cash application
Would appreciate hearing what's working for others.
Thanks :)

Has anyone rented POS equipment for a pop-up store instead of buying it?

We’re opening a pop-up for four days and need a few POS devices for checkout. Buying everything feels unnecessary since we may not use it again for months, but I’m also worried about renting equipment that shows up late, needs a bunch of setup, or doesn’t work properly with the system our staff already knows.
Has anyone rented POS equipment for a short pop-up?

best affordable custom jewelry gifts?

i need a gift that feels personal but i’m not trying to spend $300.
gift cards feel lazy, perfume feels risky, and random clothes are too hard to guess. i feel like custom jewelry is a good middle ground if it looks nice. thinking name necklace, engraved bracelet, initial necklace, photo pendant, or maybe a simple ring.
what’s the best custom jewelry gift when you’re on a budget?
