I Bond Gift Transfer?
My dad purchased I bonds for each of my children in 2021. He gave me a printout of purchases, and they show their SSNs as if they were gifted to them. I did not know that in order to manage these I had to have my own account managing theirs as a custodian. I have now established these with Treasury Direct as part of an overhaul to our financial plan, but the issue at this point is that we are fully estranged from my dad--is there some mechanism by which I can link these to my children given that they seem to be associated with their SSNs with the Treasury, or is this just sort of a lost cause and I should assume the bonds are no longer accessible for them because he would have to transfer them and there's no way for me to ask for that now?
