Should I pay traffic ticket or request a hearing
I was recently pulled over and given a ticket for unknowingly driving with a suspended license. I was on my way to the DMV because I knew that my registration had expired a few days earlier, but I didn't have the money to get a new sticker before the expiration. The officer who pulled me over told me to elect to go to court. I don't make a habit of going around committing crimes and getting tickets so I've never dealt with a situation like this before and I'm too embarrassed to ask anyone I know for advice. I've been in a really tough spot financially and unfortunately ended up in this situation. Should I elect for a court hearing (and if I should what should I expect? Do I need representation?) or should i pay the ticket?
