Is this a queen? (West Virginia)
Found this ant on my porch this evening. I always wanted a colony when I was younger but never found a queen. It’s been years since I’ve tried so my knowledge is very rusty, but I believe nuptial flights should be going on now. It rained heavily 2 days ago and has been very hot (90°+) since. I’m hoping this is a queen camponotus pennsylvanicus but would love to hear other opinions.
