Card Produced But USPS Tracking Number Says “UNAVAILABLE”? Here’s What I Did!

Sharing this because I couldn’t find much about this when I was in this situation, so hopefully it helps someone else! 🥹

After my I-485 was approved and my USCIS status changed to “Card Was Produced,” the USPS tracking number still showed “UNAVAILABLE.”

I went to USCIS website and use the Emma chat, asked about my concern and it connected me with a live representative, verified my case information, and they were able to give me my USPS tracking number.

I added it to USPS Informed Delivery, which was SO helpful because I could finally track where my card was and manage my expectations.

📦 My tracking: The initial ETA was August 7, but it shows that it wasn’t in my city yet, so I wasn’t expecting it that day. On August 8, it showed Out for Delivery, and I received my green card that day! 🎉💚

Hopefully this helps someone else who sees “UNAVAILABLE” and is stressing like I was! 😂

Finally Greened within 4 months 🎉💚: MARRIAGE-BASED AOS | I-485 + I-765 + SSN (No RFE and No Lawyer)

Finally got greened! 😭💚 Sharing my timeline and tips because I know how stressful the waiting can be, and hopefully this helps someone else going through the same process.

Category: Marriage-Based AOS
Visa: K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa
Forms filed: I-485 + I-765
SSN: Applied for concurrently

📅 MY TIMELINE:

📦 Mar 29 — Mailed AOS packet (I-485 + I-765)
📄 Apr 1 — USCIS received I-485 + issued receipt notice
🧬 Apr 29 — Biometrics completed
📋 Apr 30 — I-485 actively reviewing; nothing outstanding
📆 Jun 26 — Interview was Scheduled
💒 Jul 27 — Interview Day
🎉 Jul 28 — I-485 approved!
💳 Aug 1 — Card produced
🪪 Aug 4 — SSN received
💚 Aug 8 — Physical green card received!

My I-765 (EAD) is STILL showing:
“USCIS is currently processing your case.”
So my I-485 got approved and my green card arrived before my EAD was ever approved.

At this point, I assume the green card basically superseded the need for the EAD, since permanent residents are already authorized to work in the U.S.

️WORTH READING: Things that helped me survive the waiting ✨⬇️

📬 USPS Informed Delivery:
One thing that helped me stay patient was signing up for USPS Informed Delivery.
It sends notifications showing the mail that is scheduled to be delivered that day, so I didn’t have to constantly check the mailbox wondering if something from USCIS was coming.

⚠️** IMPORTAN**T: If you live with other people, make sure your household knows you’re using Informed Delivery because the notifications can show information/images related to mail being delivered to the household address.

Tracking my green card
When my USCIS status changed to “We produced your new card,” the USPS tracking number on my USCIS account showed “UNAVAILABLE.”

I went to the USCIS website and used Emma chat. I was connected with a representative who asked me to verify some information about my case (I honestly forgot exactly what they asked 😭).

The representative was able to provide me with my USPS tracking number. I added the tracking number to USPS Informed Delivery and was finally able to track my green card.

Hopefully this timeline gives someone else a little hope while they’re waiting.

P.S. I’m still unemployed right now 😭 so I’m officially entering my post-immigration/job-hunting era! If this timeline helped you in any way, an upvote or ⭐️ would be greatly appreciated. Trying to survive out the waiting still, while looking for my first job 😂❤️

Good luck to everyone still waiting! Your approval day will come. 🇺🇸✨
