10 month old kitten attacking behaviour
Hi everyone, this might be long.
My partner and I have a 10 month old male kitten. He was neutered at 6 months and is healthy according to the vet.
He is a very high energy boy and has been since we got him. We give him play session several times a day, always followed by food or a treat. He gets clicker training as well and had a lot of solo play toys available.
The problem is, that since around the neutering he keeps play attacking me constantly.
Before the neutering he was very cuddly with me and sometimes play attacked my partner. When he got neutered we had to lock him in his safe room for 5 days as per vet advice to give him time to heal. Directly after that I had some medical issues that I needed to recover from away from him for a few weeks and during that I only interacted with him a few times a day shortly.
Since than he seems to be constantly hyper aroused around me. He keeps attacking my arms and hands and feet when I sit down, I think to get me to play with him. If I don't react he escalates. I tried redirect, getting up and leaving, rewarding calm behaviour, anything we can think of.
He doesn't cuddle with me at all anymore, only with my partner. He still rubs on my legs, slow blinks and likes me holding him when I'm standing and he follows me everywhere and cries when I go into a room he's not allowed in. But I can barely sit down around him on some days without him attacking me. This has been going on for months now and I'm at the end of my patience with him and don't know how to deal with it anymore.
If anyone was in a similar situation or has advice on how to manage this it would be greatly appreciated.
