My opinion/Rant on Ashes DLC
Playing So’lek was actually pretty fun and different. For the main game and other DLCs, my strategy was stealth but when playing as So’lek, it’s the complete opposite and it was kinda refreshing and different, I forget what assault rifle I was using but I loved it, it had single shots like a shotgun but no kickback. When playing as Tam’tey, I only used na’vi weapons and SID. Also liked that we got more feral Na’vi emotion like hissing and growling from the characters. Also Tey’lan got a new hairstyle lol, during the last cutscene I was hearing his voice and was so confused cause I didn’t see was he was. But I think it suits him and shows physically that he has matured more and became a little more bold. And then Tam’tey glitched out and all you saw was their queue. I did enjoy learning some of So’lek’s history and that the enemy actually had it out for him specifically. Wish Tam’tey had a campsite like So’lek did.
But there was somethings that threw me off… 1) animals from the upper plains and the clouded forest. I mean I understand for the ones that were shipped there. 2) barely any gathering and crafting. All the gear is just stolen and then re-enforced?. Crafting, gathering, and hunting were like a main part for the main game and DLCs and now poof… it’s gone. Tho I did like that when looking at the map when gathering something, it’ll mark the place and show you where. 3) Weapons received had only one type of ammo tho holding more weapons made up for it. 4) the kinglor forest landscape was changed, I did appreciate that they added the ravines. Tho the arches were changed, one set looked almost like a sphere. The base where Mercer died was gone. Also they brought back the old resistance base which were blown to smithereens and wasn’t there during the clouded forest arc of the main game. Tho it was cool that they brought back the old TAP building.
Ngl, I’m pissed at what Nor did, at first I was happy that he came back. But then he started giving off cultist vibes and being a little bitch about us using sky people metal, I mean we ain’t using it against Eywa or the animals(unless we’re talking about the ferals of course). I mean I understand you got a grudge but to let the other resistance humans die just cause of one person is a bitch move(thank god Priya left before then and I think Anqa did too). So’lek should’ve fucked Nor up, I did appreciate that sucker-punch tho. And why didn’t we get a scene of Ri’nela telling the others what Nor did. Also, Ri’nela also pissed me off cause it felt like she was excusing what Nor did. At the end cutscene, if Nor was saying that eywa showed him the way then why did Tey’lan have to usher him to the flower(giving me cultist vibes cause did eywa really show you the way?). I’m hoping Rasi will set Nor straight, if he can even be saved.
RIP, Jin-Young will finally get to see his Daniela again, too bad he never got to start a family. Also RIP Rajinder.
