Does Blue Ocean Strategy actually work?

Can you give me like a Modern example of this? I was searching ideas for a service company, but kinda curious how people do apply the blue Ocean strategy in general also

Can anyone gave me an advice with this weird marketing problem I have?

I'm a fresh graduated, work as a full time employee for a small company who have like a three person employees. who isn't a startup by any means, but a start up in online and social media... I worked here as an admin at first, but because our marketing staff resigned, I was tasked to do the marketing for this company.

Again business has been slow, there is still few, but so my usual task as admin isn't much, so I accept to help make content daily for them...

So cue me making content to help boost our company. This is basically our startup in online spaces. My content is quite ok on TikTok. I'm still struggling with IG cause I find that you perform better with videos and my director (a trainer who teaches btw, we sell classes) refused to show his face online, so I opted to not as often make video (cause again it's tiring to make content and copywriting for a training niche for multiple different industries even otomotif alone. I tried myself and failed cause I'm very stiff and shy, and takes time)

A few times trial and error, I learned that we lack at the reach and awareness factor... Also credibility, cause our lack of follower, reach, and testimony and documentations. So I tried to fix that, I pay (with my own money btw, cause I did made a forecast for the marketing cost...still didn't lend me because I lack experience, fair enough) to help reach awareness for my our followers to go up. And suggested to not sell classes and hoped that it can sell before our credibility goes up (also my lack of skill in ads marketing)

Guess who didn't listen and force me to still do so, but then still scold me when it's fails (even though I told them so)?

So yeah, the marketing failed. they keep insisting, that I lack skill and to search for more ways. (yeah I know, I did take online classes for marketing, for meta ads and tiktok ads, but still lack experience). My director asked my for what is the root cause of our failures?

I gave him our CPL performance, and results from meta ads and explained, "i think it's because you suddenly gave me a only a month to sell a class...with no budget (we employees actually cover the money first before we got reimbursed after). Also we lack awareness and credibility. We didn't have much documentation and followers enough to reach that kind of sales target. People aren't familiar with our company yet. We need to actually start to build our content first, do awareness campaign that cost money, build a website, so we can get the reach and credibility, before we can start to selling. 700 followers on Instagram and 200 hundred in still two small, views even only like 1k each Per post, 5-7 saves.... Want me make a bugdet for the campaign (the cheapest option?)"

My director disagree, "Don't blame the tools. I think you lack making good content that sells into the right pool...how can we sell this marketing for B2B and buisness owners that guarantee us to make a sell? With the tools we have?"

So I felt at a lost to solved this. I opted to give this job to a marketing agency instead ( we need a website anyways so yeah, I did need help for it)

The marketing company also said that we lacked credibility, they gave us a plan for 3 months of awareness campaign before we could sell class, plus they would make us our website, CRM options, make our content template, etc. They said they need our director to showed his face often. And they also send us the cost budget and how much conversion we would get using the conservative and optimism matrix.

But still after even they explained to our director about the whole plan and steps regarding the marketing, our director still asked" Can you guarantee I get like 100% sales even though if I threw this much money for this marketing?"

The marketing agency answered with a very disbelief sounding laughed I've ever heard, "If I can do that, why would I even have a marketing agency? I could've just make money on our own selling classes ourselves"

And after that meeting, our director still look at me and said, "I think they kinda ease my worries...but can you do what they can?"

I said, "Honestly don't. they are better cause they do have the experience unlike me..choose them"

My director.. didn't contact them back...and I'm stuck doing the same thing...and he kept asking why we can't sell our class and kept asking me to check our competitors and sending me links (which all have at least have 5 k to 10K follower, website, a trainer who records often and everything. Even promising documentation, testimonies with a full marketing team)

Now he wants to open a real school... waiting for the investors....and asked me to do all the big marketing... I couldn't even sell a single class....I don't have the money to cover the marketing (guess what? I'm bellow minimum wage, I got bills to pay, barely enough for me to eat...let alone to pay for ads, even if they will reimburse it later) and the company won't give me even though I gave a forecasting bugdet and also refuse awareness content, just sales.

Also still, they didn't even want to use the kinda expensive, but more guarantee marketing agency for this big project. What am I supposed to do????

I'm an admin btw, they still didn't hire a new employee for marketing....

I kinda need advice..😭 I tried doing awareness campaign by boosting with my own money (i don't have money enough to pay meta to do such currently, even if they reimbursed it later). I'm at a lost... don't know what to do...

Any expert advice? Anyway to convinced my director otherwise?
