Hi folks something a bit weird but i was wondering if anyone had a way of decrypting old recordings i've kept a few hard drives when throwing out old cable boxes and i checked and the recordings are still there, from my research they are encrypted at the cable box level so without the box they can't be viewed however i was wondering the technolgical advances have led to a way to by pass this some small info these are UK cable box drives mainly Virgin Media, the files are in .trp i'll leave some images of what i've found on one of them below feel free to spread this post around and if some way they can be made to work again i'll upload all to the IA happily

Howdy folks a small update to the MTV music credits tool i mentioned the other day since i had a few people reach out to me about it i figured i would just make an update post real quick. The overlay script now has built in search and download for your music videos once downloaded it automatically adds the overlay to it i'll show it off below and leave you with the final results music video.

It starts with a simple search its synced up to query youtube so whatever you would search for on youtube is the same results you see inside the tool.

Here is how the search function works results should be what you see on youtube but i also added it to display the view count as a back up way to make sure you get the correct video as well as an option to move to another page, each page holds 10 results.

Once you select your video it will download i've set it to download in max quality but also limited max quality to 1080p because i found 4K video's we're not worth it. The downloading of the overlay is still the same and the final result is below. Fun fact despite the overlay being in high quality because its being overlayed on to the video it with auto adjust itself to the videos quality. Skip to 14 seconds to see the overlay and full screen for true quality enjoy.

Howdy folks i've been working on some new tools this time a little different. I've been using the fantastic nostalgia tv app for around a month now and it's by far the best app for making your own tv channels and i've recently been working on a MTV style channel and wanted the classic MTV music credits so i made a simple and quick way to make them. It's not a 1 to 1 replica but im happy with it, see below for more information.

The first script uses the itunes stores public information all you have to do is search for the song or you can search for the artist and song, once you find the correct version you simply type the number in.

Once selected it will craft a PNG with a blank background and the information as well as the cover art for the album. Currently it uses artist, song, album and release date (release date is in UK format but there is a US version also)

After that we move on to the last script which simply takes the image and overlays it on to the video this is made using the screenbug script i've talked about before with a few tweaks currently the credits pop up 15 seconds in and disappears at the 30 second mark then reappears with 40 seconds left of the video and dissapears with 20 seconds left this can easily be changed. I'll leave the full video for for this example below a warning i haven't tweaked any audio yet so it might be very loud.

I've got a few more tweaks and tests i want to run with both scripts but these i am happy to put out whenever they are good to go. I may drop some that i make into the drive if anyone is interested.

Howdy folks i've decided to share my commercials that i've got from my scripts i talked about the other day, hopefully anyone looking to make blocks can use them however some more info about them, they wont be named to what they are i don't have time for this so you'll have to go through them there is a mix of bumpers, idents and commercials, i wont be fixing any audio issues or anything else how they get cut is how they are finally i will try to put them in a folder for the network they are from and the year if i can be bothered i'll also put them in a month folder. There are some already uploaded and more will be added over time when i need them for blocks or i have some time. Last thing i won't be taking requests for commercials at all however if you catch me at the right time and simply send me a link i'll consider it.

So far there is 23 commercials from Nickelodeon 2013, 38 from Disney Channel 2007 and 90 from CN May 2004. I would just download the entire folders and then sort through what you want tbh it's much easier then trying to do it on the drive. This will stay up for a while but not forever.

Now for the tools update, i've spoken before about my builder tools ( screenbug,fade and combiner). Now i have some new tools mainly for commercials i got super bored of sitting and cutting hours of commercials so i have a few new scripts that make the process easier and much quicker see below.

Quick Cut - This tool takes the commercial video and it has a set up to look for the fade to blacks that happen between each commercial this can be changed to find the sweet spot, it will then analyze the video and find all the fade points and cut the video at those points leaving you with cut up commericals. Now this isn't perfect i would say if you have 30 cuts 22 would be perfect which takes us to script number 2.

Combine - This script can take a commercial that maybe has a few black points leading to it being cut into multiple parts, this takes those parts and combines them back into a complete commercial. This is something that i feel isn't needed unless it's a commercial you want.

Finally probably my favourite thing

Sorter - now instead of having to open the cut videos and checking the fade is correct this will open all videos in MPV then pressing 1 will mark the video as keep and pressing 2 will mark it for delete then loads the next video until all videos have been sorted. Then running a delete script takes the marked for delete videos and removes them leaving you with a folder full of commercials to use.

I'll leave a link to a folder with some cuts from a video as a kind of proof of concept. As with all my other scripts once i am finished making blocks for good all will be available for free to whoever wants to takeover.

Tomorrow's block will feature a test on the Mucha Lucha episode a lot of the time i have to get 1080p versions of shows and you can see the quality difference between shows/commercials compared to it and it sticks out which bugs me so i've been working on something to try and downgrade the quality to fit more in with the rest of the block i'll leave a comparison image below
