Hi everyone
So I bought this car a year and a half ago and since I’ve had it, it has been stuttering and struggling to stay on when it’s idling. It has shut off on me at stop lights, during traffic, etc. The worst is when im making a 3-6 hour trip to see family and my car decides to shut off while im driving on the freeway. Sometimes when that happens the power steering goes out as well.
I’ve had the battery replaced a couple times and alternator replaced as well. I’ve had a mechanic tell me it could be the immobilizer because before an orange key light would come up before it would try to shut off, but it rarely does that anymore. I’ve also had someone tell me it could be the car’s computer since i also get a ton of false codes and lights on my dashboard when it turns off and it takes them a while to turn off, usually they shut off after the car turns itself off a couple more times.
Sometimes when it shuts off I have to wait a bit for the car to even stay on when I try to turn it back on again, and sometimes I end up turning it back off myself because it can end up not wanting to speed up enough when I press on the gas in order to drive it.
I say sometimes a lot because the truth is I really don’t know what the cause or trigger for this is and it’s been driving me crazy ever since I’ve had the car because it has been so unpredictable and makes me anxious as hell to drive it. If anyone has any idea on what this could be please let me know because I really like this car and I don’t have the funds to have the car seen by a ton of mechanics who all tell me different things :c
