UCSD Marshall Incoming Freshman Housing Costs

hey! I’m an incoming freshman right now at Marshall Hall and would like some help, deciding whether it be worth it to possibly find different housing options

Context: because of the new apartments built in Marshall the housing costs are going to be at minimum the double apartment costs, which from the UCSD website will be $18,473 with the CHEAPEST meal plan (Source: Hdh housing). I believe this is ridiculous and is greatly changing my odds of being able to afford UCSD due to the little financial aid I’m getting.

So, my three options currently look like

  1. Requesting to be moved to possibly older Marshall housing or be switched colleges (if even possible)

  2. Attempting to live off-campus for my first year

  3. Giving up my UCSD acceptance and going to a CC instead (my backup plan).

i’m having a really hard time deciding and since I spent so much time to get into UCSD over the past four years, it would be devastating that the reason I can’t go is because of insane housing costs. I would really like some opinion opinions on this manner.

thank you all!!
