I ran out of eggs for breakfast, so I stepped out of my apartment, only to be met by the ethereal morning wind. We've endured the heat of the past two weeks, so I'm sure we've all appreciated today. As soon as I entered the store, FleetWood Mac's "Landslide" started playing, and I just smiled. I'm not the most optimistic person; to be truthful, I kinda expect the worst. But something about the beauty around me and the song hit me. I walked out of the store, the song faintly playing in the distance as I headed home. Reflecting on last week's heat, we all endured it; some of us are freshmen, foreign, transfers, etc. Those past weeks of adapting to this new environment were unnerving, met with uncertainty and fear. I know some of us are still enduring and finding our path to the trail, including me. But today, here we are, standing proud into week #3, embraced by the crisp fall weather. Embraced by Mother Nature's change, embraced by this new environment. Tougher days are ahead, days that might challenge or completely crush you. But I think everything's going to be alright. Because in the end, you'll be changed for the better. You'll be embraced again by the calmness of peace after those difficult days. You'll be changed. I made it home and made my lil omelet, but I think everything's going to be alright.
i have seen like 4 people post about finding lost id cards in the past week. every single one of them posts the card completely uncensored, therefore posting someone’s full name along with a clear photo of them. it is so easy to just type the person’s name into your ucsd gmail and boom. you have found their contact info and can contact them directly instead of doxxing them online. i feel like some of yall need to take an internet safety class bc bruh there’s no way you thing this is the right way to handle things like this

I've loved my first three weeks at UCSD. It's not as dehumanizing as it felt in week one. However, I've noticed that EVERYTHING on campus, public and private, university affiliated and non university affiliated, is done poorly.
From Panda Express burning their orange chicken for the first time in my life, to a huge line at target, to TSS, to not getting fin aid on time. Everything here is a shit show.
My theory is that we don't live in a real economy.
UCSD wants to be its own city and that's a vision coleslaw is convinced of because it'll make big bucks 🤑
But no one is really that productive compared to real world California, just look at the mural at Che Cafe. Our dining hall meals wouldn't hold up in the free market for the prices they're charging us.
A lot of these jobs wouldn't exist in the free market or there’d be a hard ass Mexican manager telling people to work harder and faster. I'm from a working class majority Hispanic city in California and you are exploited and treated like a workhorse. I got paid $18 an hour for the same job that pays $22 an hour here. Much harder for a young Mexican man to make a dollar.

I just found out this method and it WORKS 🥹🥹🥹it literally feel like an AC now my room feels like heaven. You gotta pick a very large bottle of water (or it will melt real quick after u take it out of fridge) and put it in the upper place in the fridge and wait for it to freeze completely then place it behind a tower fan

Like what are we supposed to do. Not use our little box fan? They genuinely want us to just die I guess. Because they don’t even give any of us AC, what the hell are we supposed to try to conserve. it’s genuinely so insensitive, idiotic, and just hypocrisy. they ppl who wrote us these emails are sitting in an air conditioned room telling US to conserve energy when we’re sitting in a concrete box that’s 97 ℉ with no AC AND THEYRE STILL ASKING US TO CONSERVE ENERGY. IM SWEATING JUST SITTING HERE AND YOU WANT ME TO TURN MY FAN OFF. FU*% YOU FOR NOT GIVING US AC.
RUN YOUR FANS, take your cold showers, do what you need to do to keep comfortable and well! your wellbeing comes first. If we pass out from heat stroke in here that’s a bigger problem on UCSD’s minds.
I understand not having AC in the dorms, but if you’re going to do that, why tf can’t we have personal AC in our rooms…? Like as much as I love my little mini fan and dehumidifier, it’s not doing shit.
