Cash back card recommendation for 2nd card

Current cards: Citi Custom Cash, $4,500 limit, opened in late 2023.

FICO Score: 813

Oldest account age: about 10 years

Income: 180k joint

Average monthly spend:

Dining - $150-200

Groceries - $1000

Gas - $250-300

Travel - minimal to nonexistent

Daycare - $2100

Gym - $170

Open to business cards: yes, but highly doubt they apply to situation

Purpose of card: cash back

Cards currently looking at: Citi DoubleCash

Ok with both general and category spending cards

Our situation is that spouse and I currently use a Citi Custom Cash card only; the groceries easily surpasses the $500 limit for the 5% cashback category so everything else earns 1% cashback only. We are looking to get a second card for improving our monthly cash back. We typically put between $3,500-4000 on the current card each month and pay off in full.

Does it make the most sense to just get the Citi DoubleCash card to use in tandem, where we would keep groceries on the CustomCash to get that 5% and then use DC to get 2% back on whatever else we charge instead of 1? I don’t think there’s any other major spending categories we have outside of daycare costs where a category card makes sense but happy to be shown otherwise. In my head, it makes sense just to stick with Citi for ease and their “spend x by x date” offering is pretty good.

Thanks in advance for any help!
